Virar police have registered a cheating case against three people.
Vasai: A 40-year-old Virar man was allegedly duped of nearly Rs 5 lakh by cyber fraudsters who promised him an escort service through Instagram. Virar police have registered a cheating case against three people.According to the complaint, the man came across an Instagram advertisement for an escort service in July. After clicking on it, he was asked to pay Rs 1,000 as a registration fee. He was then shown a woman’s photograph and allegedly instructed to make payments to different bank accounts. Despite paying Rs 4.9 lakh, he did not receive the promised service.Senior inspector Lalu Ture said Virar police have registered a case against the accused.
