Patna: A 30-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death during a dispute over a five-decimal plot of land in Dariyapur village under Warisaliganj police station area of Nawada district on Monday. According to family members, a long-standing dispute over the land escalated into an argument, following which members of the two sides allegedly attacked each other with sticks. The man was seriously injured and died during treatment at a hospital.Following his death, family members and villagers placed the body on the Warisaliganj-Kharat main road near Dariyapur and blocked traffic, demanding the arrest of those allegedly involved. Police pacified the protesters and restored traffic.Meenu’s father, Krishna Mahto, alleged that the family had started constructing a boundary around the disputed plot when the accused attacked his son with sticks.“My son was seriously injured and when we took him to hospital, doctors declared him dead. He died because of the assault,” Krishna alleged.He said Meenu is survived by his wife, child and parents and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved.Warisaliganj SHO Pankaj Kumar Saini reached the spot and assured the family of appropriate action.“An FIR has been registered against more than six named persons based on the application submitted by the deceased’s family,” Saini said.The SHO said police were investigating the incident from all angles and monitoring the situation in the village.
