Koderma: A court in Koderma on Tuesday sentenced three brothers of Jhumri Tilaiya town in Koderma district to rigorous imprisonment for life on charges of murdering a man over a stretch of road, measuring about 2.5ft width, in Dec 2023.The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (III) Rakesh Chandra convicted brothers Raj Kapoor (45) and Prem Kapoor (50), along with their cousin Sonu Kumar Yadav (30), under Section 302 of the IPC. It also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each convict. Failure to pay the fine would attract an additional three months of imprisonment, it added.Public prosecutor Praveen Kumar Singh informed court that an argument broke out between the three convicts and Sanjay Singh (52) over a small strip of land at Master Mohalla on Gandhi School Road on Dec 14, 2023. The row turned violent and the accused allegedly attacked Sanjay on the head with an iron rod.Sanjay was admitted to the Koderma sadar hospital, which referred him to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), Ranchi. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment on Dec 20, 2023, Singh added.An FIR was lodged with the Tilaiya police station by the victim’s sister-in-law, Sangeeta Devi. Following Sanjay’s death, police converted the case into a murder investigation.
