Ranchi: With the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) ending on Wednesday, chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar on Tuesday shared polling station-wise data on voter non-mapping and logical discrepancies with recognised political parties.At a meeting with party representatives, Kumar urged them to share the data with booth level agents (BLAs) and BLA-2s for verification at the grassroots level. The exercise, he said, was aimed at ensuring timely correction and updation of electoral rolls and preventing the exclusion of any eligible voter.The lists include names of voters who were issued notices over discrepancies or non-mapping during the ongoing SIR. While several voters have already submitted the required documents before electoral registration officers (EROs), some people whose names figured in the 2024 electoral roll and who had completed enumeration forms could not attend the hearings.To assist such voters, the Election Commission will organise special outreach drives and camps. “EROs and other officials will verify their status and decide the claims on the basis of available facts and documents,” Kumar said.He directed officials and political parties to pay special attention to vulnerable groups, including Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), disabled, tribal communities, senior citizens and voters without parent-related details.“The purpose of handing over the polling station-wise list of electors with non-mapping and logical discrepancies is to ensure that every elector is verified through the respective political parties’ BLA-2s at the polling station level,” Kumar told TOI. He said the process would also ensure transparency and a concurrent audit of the electoral roll preparation exercise.BJP state vice-president Rakesh Prasad said the party had demanded that no ineligible person be included in the rolls. It had also sought expediting the addition of new voters who had submitted Form-6 applications.Kumar reiterated that the objective was to ensure that no eligible Indian citizen was left out of the electoral roll, while preventing the inclusion of ineligible persons, including foreign nationals.
