Ranchi: Two men were arrested and two minors detained in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 19-year-old woman in Ranchi district on Sept 22, officers said on Tuesday.The incident occurred late at night when the survivor was returning from a Karma festival gathering, police said. A case was registered against three to four unidentified persons following her complaint.The arrested accused are aged 22 and 23 years. Police also detained two minors, aged 16 and 17. All four are residents of the same village where the alleged crime took place. A mobile phone was seized from the arrested men.SP (rural) Gaurav Goswami said a special investigation team, led by DSP Ajay Aryan, gathered technical evidence from the spot and questioned locals. This led to the arrest of the 22-year-old, following which police traced the 23-year-old accused and the two minors based on information obtained during interrogation.Police said the accused were returning from the festival in an inebriated condition when they saw the woman speaking on her mobile phone. They allegedly assaulted her before committing the crime.Police said the accused also snatched her mobile phone, reportedly worth around Rs 50,000, and a necklace. The stolen items were later sold, officers said. Police thanked villagers for helping track the accused.
