Jamshedpur gears up for Garba, Dandiya nights
Rehearsals are in full swing and participants are learning new steps

Jamshedpur: With music, colours, dance and festive fashion, Jamshedpur is all set to celebrate Navratri in grand style.Rehearsals are in full swing, markets are buzzing, and residents are picking outfits in traditional and Indo-Western styles to match the daily colour themes of the festival.The Gujarati Sanatan Samaj in Bistupur will begin its Navratri celebrations on Oct 11. This year marks its 99th year of celebrations. Organisers have planned 10 colour themes for the 10 festive days, with participants expected to dress accordingly.At the Samaj premises, Garba practice is being held every day from 4 pm to 7 pm, where participants are learning new steps and preparing for the celebrations.Shops across the city are seeing strong demand for lehenga-cholis, antique-style jewellery, kamarbands and colourful accessories. Indo-Western ghagra-choli sets, sleeveless kurtis and Gujarati-style tops are also becoming popular among young buyers.Costume rental shops are also doing brisk business. In Sonari, a store is offering outfits and jewellery for women, men and children. Rentals range from Rs 200 to Rs 500 per day, with separate rates for group bookings.Several Dandiya nights have also been lined up across Jamshedpur.Navrang Navratri Dandiya Night will be held at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur on Oct 15, with Garba, Dandiya, live music, DJ performances, selfie zones and food stalls. Entry is priced at Rs 350 per person.A hotel in Sakchi will host a five-day Dandiya Raas from Oct 15 to 19. Shubh Arambh 3.0 will be organised at Narbheram Hansraj English School from Oct 16 to 19, featuring Bollywood dhol, a live DJ, a live band and a carnival. Tickets are priced at Rs 299.Bari Maidan Clubhouse in Sakchi will also host a Dandiya night on Oct 16.
