Patna: Hundreds of aspirants of the Bihar Police sub-inspector recruitment examination are set to march from Gandhi Maidan to the chief minister’s residence on Monday, demanding the restoration of the recruitment process after the cancellation of the mains examination for 1,799 posts. The candidates said they would urge the govt to reconsider the decision and resume the recruitment process at the earliest. They are also seeking an early announcement of the date for the physical efficiency test. The mains examination was held on May 27 and its results were declared on June 19. However, the examination was cancelled months later, affecting over 10,000 candidates, according to protesting aspirant Anand Singh. The candidates questioned why they should suffer due to alleged irregularities that led to the cancellation of the examination. Many said they had spent months preparing for the test and that the delay in taking a decision had only added to their uncertainty.“We want transparency and justice for genuine candidates. If the examination had to be cancelled, why was the decision taken four months later?” another aspirant, Saurav Rana, said. The protesters said the march would be peaceful and democratic. They will also seek clarity on the future recruitment schedule and measures to protect the interests of candidates who appeared in the cancelled examination.
