Buxar: A seminar and a series of activities on water conservation were organised on Wednesday at the Govt Engineering College (GEC), Buxar, to mark World Earth Day. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the 30 Bihar Battalion NCC, Buxar, with the aim of spreading awareness about environmental protection, sustainable development and the responsible use of natural resources.College principal Ram Naresh Rai addressed the gathering and highlighted the urgent need to protect the environment. He said rising pollution, water scarcity and the overuse of natural resources make it imperative for everyone to adopt eco-friendly practices. He encouraged students to actively contribute to environmental conservation.A special lecture and interactive session on “Encouraging Reuse and Recycling of Plastic” was held, focusing on practical ways to reduce plastic waste. Activities related to water conservation were also organised to educate students about saving water and using it efficiently. NCC cadets and students participated in the seminar and shared their views on environmental issues. A speech competition was also organised, in which first-year student Satakshi and others delivered impactful presentations.First-year student Akriti Sinha played a key role in coordinating the programme. The event was coordinated by assistant professor and NCC coordinator Ramdayal Singh Kushwaha, who said the NCC aims not only to build discipline and leadership but also to instil social and environmental responsibility among students.
