Dumka: A high-level review meeting was held in Dumka under the chairmanship of Santhal Pargana DIG Amber Lakra on Wednesday to assess the law and order situation across the region, a police statement said.Superintendents of Police (SPs) from all six districts of the division attended the meeting and discussed key security concerns. Special emphasis was laid on preparations for the upcoming Shravani Mela at Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar and Basukinath Dham in Dumka, scheduled to begin from July 30, it said.“The Shravani Mela is a significant religious event and an integral part of Santhal Pargana’s identity,” Lakra said. He instructed officials to work in close coordination and remain fully prepared to handle any situation, ensuring that no lapses occur in the arrangements.With a heavy footfall of devotees expected during the month-long festival, officials reviewed plans for security arrangements, traffic management, crowd control and emergency services. Lakhs of pilgrims from across the country and abroad are expected to visit the two prominent Shiva temples to offer prayers. The objective, according to the statement, was to ensure the smooth conduct of the religious event.During the meeting, the DIG directed all district police heads to maintain strict vigilance on sensitive cases and ensure firm action against criminals. He stressed the need for effective monitoring to strengthen overall law enforcement in the division.The meeting also took note of rising cybercrime incidents. Officials highlighted the importance of enhancing technical capabilities and launching awareness campaigns to educate the public and improve prevention.Police officers were also asked to prioritize strict enforcement of traffic rules and promote road safety awareness to reduce accidents in the region. The review underlined the administration’s focus on maintaining law and order and ensuring comprehensive preparedness for the annual religious gathering.
