Civic recruitment scam: ED sends fresh summons to Sujit Bose

Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate has sent summons to state fire minister and Trinamool candidate from Bidhannagar, Sujit Bose, again on Saturday after he was questioned for nearly nine hours on Friday. He was asked to appear before the agency on May 6. Trinamool neta Rathin Ghosh was also asked to appear before the agency.Bose, who was summoned multiple times by the ED for questioning in the municipal recruitment scam, appeared before the agency on May 1. He moved the Calcutta High Court earlier citing election work as a reason for non-appearance. Justice Krishna Rao’s bench asked Bose to appear at the ED office on May 1. On Friday, his son Samudra was also summoned by the central agency. The ED earlier raided Bose’s home and office.Coming out of the CGO complex office on Friday, Bose said, “I came as a witness. I will certainly come if called for cooperation in the investigation. Doing business is never a crime. Stealing is a crime,” he said.Rathin Ghosh was also summoned by the ED on the same day in the recruitment corruption case. He was also sent summons multiple times by the central agency. While the Bengal poll results will be announced on Monday, Ghosh has been summoned to the ED office the day after. In Oct 2023, Ghosh was questioned by the ED in the recruitment corruption case. His house was also searched after that.
