Chatra: Chatra deputy commissioner (DC) Ravi Anand and superintendent of police (SP) Animesh Naithani conducted a surprise inspection at the Chatra divisional prison premises early Monday morning to assess security and inmate facilities. Over 350 inmates, many of them undertrials, are lodged in the jail.The team checked the functionality of CCTV cameras and directed officials to ensure continuous monitoring at all sensitive locations. Anand said, “The security of the jail and basic facilities for inmates are a priority. Regular inspections will help maintain transparency and accountability.”Stressing on the need for strict vigilance, SP Naithani directed officials to ensure regular patrolling within the premises, thorough checking of visitors and proper maintenance of records.The inspection team reviewed inmate welfare aspects including cleanliness of wards, availability of adequate lighting and ventilation, supply of safe drinking water and quality of food. Healthcare facilities such as regular medical check-ups, availability of essential medicines and preparedness to deal with emergencies were also assessed.
