Patna: Chief minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday launched 2,476 development projects worth Rs 11,464 crore to mark the completion of 100 days of “service, resolve and dedication” of his govt. He said the projects would expand key sectors such as roads, bridges, education, health, irrigation, industry, drinking water and other basic facilities, giving fresh momentum to balanced and comprehensive development across Bihar.Addressing a function at the BIT Mesra, Patna campus, Choudhary said the present govt is the “govt of the people of Bihar.” He said every decision taken in the first 100 days had been guided by public interest, good governance and the all-round development of the state.

He added that he would continue working for the welfare of Bihar’s people and to fulfil their dreams in keeping with the trust they had shown.Choudhary said Bihar had only 278 degree colleges since Independence, but his govt had recently started 211 new degree colleges in a single day. He said 551 schools had been upgraded as model ones. Referring to urban expansion, he said only one township was developed in Kankarbagh, Patna, in the 1960s and 1970s, while his govt has now decided to develop 12 townships across the state, with work progressing rapidly.The CM said he had resolved to work 15 to 18 hours a day to make Bihar prosperous. He said the govt aimed to set up one industry in every district and bring Rs 5 lakh-crore investment to Bihar by Nov 20 this year.He said the 26-km JP Ganga Path had been built in Patna, and in the next three years, around 200 km of elevated highway would be developed along river banks in Bihar. These proposed highways were expected to attract investment of about Rs 1 lakh crore.Choudhary reiterated that 25 new sugar mills would be started in Bihar over the next five years. He said an industries and electronics park would be developed at Rajapakar in Vaishali, attracting Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 30,000 crore investment and generating employment for about one lakh youth. A dedicated steel plant hub would also be built on nearly 3,000 acres at the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster in Gaya.He said corridors would be developed along the Gandak and Kosi rivers, while Jeevika Tower would be constructed in Patna as a modern centre for women’s empowerment and self-help groups.
