12 CUJ geography students qualify in UGC-JRF, NET and PhD examinations

Ranchi: Twelve students from the geography department of Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ) have qualified in the University Grants Commission (UGC) examinations held recently, bringing laurels to the institution.In a statement, CUJ said its students cleared different categories of the UGC examination, including the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the National Eligibility Test (NET) and the PhD-only section. Kundan Kumar Pandit qualified for the UGC-JRF examination.Priti Bhagat, Bhavya Sidhhi, Sawati Kumari, Afreen Jehan, Abhishek Kumar, Prayuman Pandey, Saurav Kumar and Kriti Lata Thithio cleared the UGC-NET. Sawati V Tigga and Arjun Prasad qualified in the PhD-only category.Students who cleared the NET said the success would support their plans for teaching, higher education and research. The achievement was welcomed across the department and the university.CUJ vice-chancellor Sarang Medhekar, along with teachers and fellow students, said the results were a matter of pride for the university. Professor Medhekar said the outcome reflected the students’ continuous hard work, dedication and determination. The university said the performance underlined the department’s academic environment and its focus on guiding students towards research and competitive academic careers in geography.
