Ranchi: The regional passport office (RPO), Ranchi, kicked off its two-day special passport seva camp at the Central University of Jharkhand on Tuesday.Officials said that a mobile passport van has been deployed on the campus which will facilitate on-spot passport-related services to the students, faculty, and staff as well as the local residents of the surrounding areas. On day one, around 45 applications related to renewal or new applications have been processed at the camp.“We have set a target of processing more than hundred applications during the two-day camp,” the RPO said in a statement.A senior official, on the condition of anonymity, said that they are focusing more on outreach programmes like these for the benefit of citizens. “RPO is open to holding more camps like these and is exploring requests from various places where we can get bulk applications. We have a mobile van in place which we roll out from time to time. A few days back, we held a similar camp at AIIMS Deoghar. IIT(ISM) in Dhanbad has also expressed its interest in holding a similar camp, which we are in the process of evaluating,” he said, adding that to offer better services to people, they have also set up various passport seva kendras in the districts.“We currently have 16 passport seva kendras across 24 districts and an additional 15 centres are functioning in tie-up with the post offices,” he said.
