MUMBAI: The Matunga Flower Merchants Association is celebrating its 54th year of Ganeshotsav with a spectacular and aromatic floral display in the locality market.Owner of Sankaracharya flower shop and association president P Subbaiah said, “Ours is the most popular Ganapathy in this area. We change the decoration with flowers four times over the entire festival with a particular theme.““For these decorations, six decorators who are specialised in temple decorations, have come from Salem district in Tamil Nadu. They use nearly 250 kgs of different varieties of flowers for each decoration,” Subbaiah added.He is the one who coordinates with the decorators.Local resident KA Viswanathan said that each variety of flowers costs around Rs 250 per kilo.The costs for 12 days of festivity alone will cost around Rs 10 lakhs.The total cost for the entire celebration is more than Rs 25 lakhs, Subbaiah said.
