Ranchi: Three men were arrested for allegedly murdering a 52-year-old traditional healer in city’s Kokar area on Tuesday night, police said on Friday. The accused were identified as Amit Chaudhary, 38, Sachin Kumar Gupta, 36, and Niranjan Swasi alias Neeraj, 21.Healer Ramesh Thakur was found dead at his residence under Sadar police station limits on Wednesday. Police said he befriended the trio, invited them late at night, and allegedly carried out unnatural sexual acts, claiming a fairy would appear and shower them with wealth.“The accused continued participating in the rituals for a considerable period, believing the promise. However, when neither the alleged supernatural being appeared nor any wealth materialised, they realised they had been deceived. The three men planned to confront Thakur on Tuesday night, deciding that if his promises again proved false, they would kill him,” SP (city) Paras Rana said.They arrived at Thakur’s place on Tuesday night with a country-made pistol and ammunition. “After the alleged tantric ritual and sexual acts, when the promised outcome did not materialise, one of the accused allegedly opened fire at Thakur. The bullet, however, missed. The accused then repeatedly hit him with pliers on the head, killing him on the spot,” the SP added.
