Ara: In a key development in the inquiry into the death of Bharat Bhushan Tiwari in an alleged police encounter, three eyewitnesses, including his sister-in-law Suman Devi, recorded their statements before the judicial commission headed by retired Patna high court judge Vinod Kumar Sinha in Ara on Monday.Speaking to mediapersons after her deposition, Suman said she had faith in the judicial process and hoped justice would be delivered. “We have trust on the court. We hope we will get justice.“Ek desh bhakt ko paanch goli mara gaya hai. Jo doshi paaye jayen unhe aisi saza dena chahiye ki unki rooh kaap jaye,” she said.Suman said she spent around one-and-a-half hours before the commission and spoke in detail about the alleged role of the officials and police personnel named in the case.Another eyewitness, Satyanarayan Choudhary, a flood victim from Jawaniya village for whom Bharat had worked as a social activist, claimed before mediapersons that Bharat had surrendered after officials and police personnel assured him that the demands of flood victims would be addressed.“Whatever I had seen about how Bharat was killed by the cops, I told before the inquiry commission,” Satyanarayan said, alleging that Bharat was shot despite surrendering.Earlier, on July 11, Bharat’s parents, Asha Devi and Kashinath Tiwari, had also deposed before the commission. Kashinath had alleged that he was kept at the police station throughout the day when Bharat was killed on June 17.
