Patna: Sixty road accident victims in Bihar have received cashless treatment of up to Rs 1.5 lakh under the PM Relief Scheme, a central initiative aimed at ensuring timely medical care during emergencies. Officials said action has been taken in 87 cases so far under the scheme.The state transport department is implementing the programme, which provides free treatment worth up to Rs 1.5 lakh at hospitals empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The entire treatment cost for up to seven days from the date of the accident is borne by the govt, enabling victims to access urgent healthcare without financial stress.State transport commissioner Arif Ahsan said the benefit is available if an injured person is admitted to a designated hospital within 24 hours of the accident.“After admission, the hospital uploads the patient’s details on the online Transaction Management System (TMS), following which police verification and other required approvals are completed to facilitate treatment under the scheme,” he said.Officials said the initiative focuses on providing medical assistance during the “golden hour”, the crucial period immediately after a road accident when prompt treatment can significantly improve survival chances and reduce the severity of injuries.Ahsan urged people to take accident victims to the nearest designated hospital without delay.He said timely medical intervention can save lives and appealed to the public not to hesitate in helping injured persons access treatment under the scheme.
