Kolkata: A father, who has been searching for his teenage daughter for the past seven months, has approached Rajarhat police for the second time, seeking their intervention to trace her. The girl has remained untraced since Feb and her father fears she was abducted and possibly trafficked out of the state.In his complaint, the resident of Rajarhat Bishnupur, alleged that his daughter left home around 9.45am on Feb 7 when he and his wife were away. She has not returned since, he said.He has named a youth from Delhi, who had allegedly developed a relationship with the girl, along with three of his family members, claiming they acted together to abduct his daughter through deceit and subsequently wrongfully confine or conceal her.“The youth happened to be my client. He came to my chamber on a couple of occasions and had since then targeted my daughter. I have submitted multiple pieces of evidence that he had forcibly abducted my daughter,” the father told TOI.He further alleged that the accused could have transported or concealed his daughter for exploitation and suspected that the circumstances could involve trafficking.“Based on source information, I had visited Delhi in June this year and reached the boy’s home. But they were not there. I learnt that the boy had taken my daughter to Rajasthan. I fear she may have been trafficked,” he said, adding that he has not been able to speak to his daughter even once since she left home.According to the complaint, the father had approached Rajarhat police on Feb 7 itself and submitted a written complaint about his daughter’s disappearance. He alleged that the then inspector-in-charge treated it as a General Diary entry instead of registering an FIR.Police said they were investigating the allegations and efforts were being made to ascertain the girl’s whereabouts.“We have started a case of kidnapping, abduction, wrongful confinement and human trafficking and are trying to trace the girl. We have also got in touch with Delhi Police for further cooperation in the case,” said a senior officer of Bidhannagar city police.
