NEW DELHI: A 75-year-old woman was rescued after a fire broke out at a restaurant near the Kalkaji-Govindpuri flyover in southeast Delhi in the early hours of Sunday.The Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a call about the blaze at around 4.45 am, following which nine fire tenders with around 54 fire personnel were rushed to the spot in H Block. Firefighters found flames engulfing a multi-storey building comprising a basement, ground floor and three upper floors, along with a temporary structure constructed on the terrace of the third floor.According to fire officials, the blaze had spread across parts of the building when emergency teams reached the spot. During the firefighting operation, three commercial LPG cylinders exploded, posing an additional challenge for rescue personnel and increasing the intensity of the fire.During the operation, a woman, identified as Sita Devi, was found trapped on the second floor of the building. DFS personnel carried out a rescue operation and safely evacuated her from the smoke-filled structure.The fire was brought under control at around 5.55 am, nearly an hour after the emergency call was received. Police are probing the exact cause of the fire. No casualties were reported in the incident.
