Chennai: Following the death of an Anna University student from scrub typhus, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) conducted a fever screening camp on the campus and found eight students with high fever. They have been hospitalised.GCC health officials have not yet confirmed whether the students have dengue. Till Sept 9, the campus reported 222 fever cases, including two dengue cases. The students hospitalised in Madurai and Kallakurichi are stable. Meanwhile, a postgraduate student who was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital on Saturday tested positive for dengue.“The university has around 12,000 students. There is no cause for alarm. The eight students who tested positive for fever have been admitted to hospitals,” said N Ilancheziyan, health officer, Alandur zone.
