State authorities on Thursday informed Calcutta High Court that nine people had been arrested in connection with the New Market incident, following which the court directed the State to file a detailed affidavit in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over an alleged illegal bulldozer action in the area, reports Srishti Lakhotia. Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) Dhiraj Kumar Trivedi told the bench the demolished structure was an illegal roadside construction.
