Jharkhand signs MoU to set up education policy labTimes News NetworkRanchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) on Tuesday signed amemorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-based non-profitorganisation to establish the Jharkhand Policy Lab for Education SystemTransformation, an institutional platform aimed at supportingevidence-based policymaking in school education.The agreement was signed in Ranchi in the presence of officials from theSchool Education and Literacy Department, JEPC and representatives of theorganisation. According to officials, the Policy Lab will focus on areassuch as pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, teacher professional developmentand student wellbeing.Shashi Ranjan, State Project Director, JEPC, said the initiative isintended to strengthen the use of evidence and innovation in educationalplanning and implementation. “The Policy Lab represents an important steptowards building a culture where evidence, innovation and reflection informpolicy and practice,” he said.Avinav Kumar, State Programme Officer, JEPC, said the platform would helpcreate stronger linkages between research and policymaking. “The JharkhandPolicy Lab creates an opportunity for the education system to become morereflective, responsive and collaborative,” he saidOfficials said the initiative will operate through research studies, pilotprojects, policy consultations and capacity-building activities over aninitial 18-month roadmap under a three-year agreement.The Policy Lab is also expected to focus on issues affecting children fromtribal, rural, migrant and socio-economically disadvantaged communities. Itwill engage with researchers, universities and education experts togenerate evidence that can support decision-making within the state’spublic education system.
