'Fed up of my life, I'm ending it': Mumbai woman dies by suicide on railway tracks; note cites knee ailment

MUMBAI: A 56-year-old woman died by suicide on the railway tracks between Patel and Currey Road stations on Thursday, fed up of a knee ailment. Police said she penned a suicide note on her arm. An accidental death case has been recorded at Dadar Govt Railway Police (GRP) chowky.Around 1.30 pm on Thursday, the Currey Road station master informed the GRP about a woman getting hit by a train between Currey Road and Parel stations. She had suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Sion Hospital. During treatment, she succumbed to her injuries around 3.10 pm. She was identified as Anandi Veer. Her body was sent for an autopsy and her family was informed. Police said Veer lived at Currey Road with her family. She was suffering from a knee ailment and experienced severe pain. Police said she had penned a suicide note on her left arm which said, “I’m fed up of my life and I’m ending it on my own accord. My family is not responsible for it.”Her body was handed over to her family for last rites after the autopsy.
