Gaya: Gaya airport observed ‘Yatri Suvidha Divas’ on Monday, with authorities showcasing a series of infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing passenger amenities and accommodating rising traffic.As part of the function, a programme including featuring stakeholder feedback sessions, free health check-ups, a blood donation camp and a plantation drive were organised. School and college students were also given a guided tour of the airport to familiarise them with aviation operations.On the occasion, certificates of appreciation, mementoes and gifts were presented to female personnel from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), CISF, immigration and the state fire services.Presenting operational data, airport director Avinash Mani Bhushan Soreng said nearly 3.3 lakh passengers travelled through the airport over the past year, indicating a steady increase in footfall.To meet growing demand, the airport has expanded its operational capacity by developing two new apron bays, allowing up to five aircraft to be parked and handled simultaneously.For improved passenger convenience, especially for senior citizens and differently abled travellers, two aerobridges have been installed, while modernisation of the terminal building is also under way.
