Kolkata: A late-night brawl inside a pub located near Highland Park took a violent turn in the early hours of Thursday, June 18, when a disgruntled group allegedly stormed the Survey Park Women’s Police Station, tried to stop the OC and assaulted on-duty cops.A lady constable was seriously injured after being kicked by one accused and three other police personnel were allegedly bitten by the accused. The latter, however, claimed that they had gone to the police station to demand legal action and record their allegations but were physically pushed and shoved by the cops.The incident unfolded around 2 am at the police station premises located at East Rajapur. According to police sources, the trouble began earlier that night with a dispute inside a bar near Highland Park. The cops reached the spot, pacified the agitated groups and asked them to leave. A couple of hours later, a group consisting of two women and a man, who had left the pub earlier, allegedly reached the police station and intercepted a senior police officer’s vehicle on the road, and demanding the immediate arrest of the members of their opposing group.When the police advised them to maintain peace and furnish proper evidence regarding the bar fight first, the group turned furious and created a commotion, the police alleged.The case was officially registered based on a written complaint filed by the 29-year-old KP female constable, a resident of Dakshin Dinajpur presently posted at the police station. In her complaint, she stated that she rushed outside upon hearing the loud shouting. Despite repeated requests from the lady police personnel to calm down and leave the premises peacefully, the visitors turned aggressive.The situation spiralled out of control when the group began attacking the police with fists and blows. When the constable stepped forward to restrain them, the accused kicked her. In the ensuing melee, the attackers bit three other police personnel who tried to intervene.The police have named three primary accused in the FIR: Aritra Ghosh (31) of Jadavpur and Moumita Naiya (31); and Arpita Dey (29), both residents of Chittaranjan Colony. They have been charged with voluntarily assaulting government servants to deter them from discharging their lawful duties, under common intention.Cops confirmed that an inquiry is underway, and strict legal action is being taken against the accused for the unprecedented station-house attack.
