Dhanbad: Unidentified bike-borne criminals allegedly shot dead a 45-year-old flour mill employee at Kherkabad in Dhanbad district on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Umesh Yadav, a resident of Bastacola under Jharia police station limits.Police and family members said Yadav was working at a flour mill located in Godhar for seven to eight years and was responsible for collecting payments from customers. On Sunday, he had gone out on his motorcycle to collect money and was returning when the assailants, allegedly lying in wait, intercepted him and opened fire. He sustained multiple gunshot injuries and collapsed, dying on the spot.Soon after the incident, police teams from Gondudih and Bhuli outposts, and Kenduadih police station reached the spot.Umesh’s brother, Rajesh, said it was too early to ascertain whether the murder was the result of an old rivalry or an attempted robbery.Flour mill owner Ratan Agrawal stated that Umesh left for collection work around 11 am.SP (rural) S Mohammad Yakub said investigators are examining all possible angles, including personal enmity, robbery and other motives.
