Yellow alert for thunderstorm & lightning in state for 2 days from today: IMD

Ranchi: The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a yellow alert for 20 districts across Jharkhand forecasting thunderstorm, lightning and wind activities on Tuesday and Wednesday. The alert was sounded for the districts except for Chatra, Latehar, Garhwa and Palamu districts.“Thunderstorms, lightning and wind gusting up to 40-50 kmph are likely at isolated places across the state, except the north-western part, on Tuesday. Similar activities are likely to be witnessed at isolated places over the state, except north-western and adjoining north-central parts, the next day also. Heatwave is likely at isolated places in Garhwa, Palamu, and Chatra districts on Wednesday,” Abhishek Anand, the deputy director at Ranchi IMD, said.Ranchi on Monday recorded a maximum temperature of 28.4°C, Jamshedpur 31.8°C, Daltonganj 37.1°C, Bokaro 36.1°C, and Chaibasa 30.8 °C.Many places in the state received rainfall on Monday. Khunti recorded 4 mm rain, Baharagora in East Singhbhum recorded 2.5 mm, Bano in Simdega recorded 10 mm rain, and Jagannathpur automatic weather station (AWS) in West Singhbhum recorded 13.5 mm rain, the highest in the state.
