Ranchi: From detecting deepfake-linked insurance fraud to building AI tools for smarter data retrieval, students at BIT Mesra spent 24 hours tackling real-world technology challenges at ADROSONIC Build, a hackathon organised on the campus.Team Nautilus won the grand prize of Rs 30,000 for its solution on synthetic identity and deepfake claim detection, a growing concern for the insurance sector. Team Fantastic Four and Team OutLiers won Rs 20,000 each. Fantastic Four developed an agentic AI system for insurance Statement of Values intelligence, while OutLiers worked on precision retrieval for RAG systems.More than 106 teams participated, of which 21 were shortlisted for the final build. The event began on Oct 2, with the 24-hour final round held from Oct 3 to 4. ADROSONIC professionals mentored the teams as they developed, tested and refined their solutions.Neeraj Kumar, director, solutions engineering, ADROSONIC, said, “We looked at whether the teams understood the problem, why their solution mattered and how feasible it was.”Kamlesh Yadav, head of innovation, ADROSONIC, said, “The interesting part was seeing how students translated an industry problem into a solution.”The hackathon is part of BIT Mesra’s ongoing collaboration with ADROSONIC, which began in 2022. The partnership also led to the Digital Innovation Lab (DIL) at BIT Mesra in 2024, within the department of quantitative economics and data science.
