NHAI says viral NH-922 video from Bihar shows planned repair work, not road failure
Reacting to the video, Arvind Kumar, an official of NHAI in Patna, said the work seen in the clip was part of a planned pavement repair and maintenance programme.

BUXAR: video showing workers cutting and filling portions of the NH-922 highway at Bihiya in Bhojpur district has gone viral on social media, prompting questions about the quality of road construction after it was shared by the Congress party. Reacting to the video, Arvind Kumar, an official of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Patna, said the work seen in the clip was part of a planned pavement repair and maintenance programme. According to the NHAI, the cuts visible on the concrete road surface were made intentionally as part of a standard engineering rehabilitation process. Officials said workers were installing steel staples in the pavement, followed by grouting and sealing, to repair localised cracks and joints and restore structural strength. The NHAI clarified that the video captured only an intermediate stage of the repair process, due to which the road appeared unfinished. The authority said the visuals did not indicate road failure or poor construction quality. Officials added that the pavement surface would be restored as per prescribed engineering standards after the stapling, grouting, and finishing work is completed. The NHAI said periodic inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repair of damaged stretches are part of highway asset management and are essential to ensure the safety, durability, and long-term performance of highways. Arvind Kumar said the affected portion of the road has been rectified.
