PPU issues notices to 7 staff over absence

Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has issued show-cause notices to seven teachers, including the principal and bursar of BS College, Danapur, after they were found absent during a surprise inspection conducted by vice-chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh on Tuesday.PPU registrar Abu Bakar said the notices sought explanations within 24 hours. The action followed the vice-chancellor’s inspection of examination centres where undergraduate semester-IV examinations were under way.During the visit, Upendra inspected BS College, Danapur, and JD Women’s College, Patna, to assess examination arrangements and verify the presence of teaching and administrative staff assigned examination duties.At BS College, notices were issued to principal Shyam Deo Paswan and bursar S Chauhan after they were found absent during the inspection around 10.10 am, Abu said.Similarly, five teachers of JD Women’s College — Laxmi Kumari, Pallavi Nisha, Rehmat Yunus, Ranju Singh and Seema Mishra — were served notices after they were found absent during the vice-chancellor’s visit around 11.15 am.“The administration has taken a serious view of absenteeism during examinations. The notices seek an explanation from the concerned staff members regarding their absence failing which further action may be initiated as per university rules,” the registrar said.The vice-chancellor has been conducting inspections of examination centres to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of examinations across colleges under the university.
