Kolkata: VietJet Thailand is set to fly into the city again on July 1, some 11 weeks after it had withdrawn the Kolkata-Bangkok flight citing rising fuel costs in the wake of the war in Iran.The airline will resume its four days-a-week operations. The incoming flight from Bangkok will land just before midnight on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the return flight will depart Kolkata on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.Airport officials said the airline had withdrawn services on April 13, three months after it introduced the service this Jan.To attract flyers in an already crowded sector with five airlines — IndiGo Airlines, Thai Airways, Bhutan Airlines, Thai AirAsia, and Lion Air — vying for passengers, the airline has announced one-way introductory fares of Rs 9,370 that is inclusive of 20 kg checkin baggage and 7 kg cabin baggage. The introductory return fare has been priced Rs 18,226.Vietjet Thailand flights also have a three-class configuration, the only low-cost airline to offer such a set-up. “Despite being low-cost, the airline has a Skyboss offering with additional baggage allowance, luxurious lounges, priority check-in, exclusive shuttle service to the aircraft and F&B on board,” pointed out travel agent Anil Punjabi.
