Ara: What was meant to be a memorable pilgrimage and holiday for a newlywed couple and their relatives ended in tragedy on Sunday morning when their SUV crashed into a container truck on the Ara-Buxar four-lane road under Bihiya police station in Bhojpur district. The impact was so severe that the SUV was mangled beyond recognition, and locals, along with the police, had to make strenuous efforts to extricate the victims from the wreckage.“The SUV was coming from Delhi and going to Deoghar in Jharkhand. It was running at a high speed of about 150 kmph. It rammed into a huge container truck from behind. There were four persons riding in the SUV. Three persons, including a man and his wife, died on the spot while the fourth one, who is seriously injured, is undergoing treatment at present. The bodies have been identified and sent to the Ara Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The family members of the deceased have been informed about the accident and they have arrived. A case has been registered with the traffic police station in this regard,” traffic DSP Manoj Kumar Sudhanshu told reporters.The deceased were identified as 32-year-old Prakash Singh, his wife Pallavi Singh (28), and Prakash’s cousin Sourav Singh (24). The injured man, Kumar Gourav, is Sourav’s friend. According to sources, Prakash, who hailed from Saran district in Bihar, was an engineer with a reputed company in Jharkhand. He and Pallavi got married in Feb this year. According to locals, Prakash was driving the SUV while Pallavi was seated beside him in the front.According to the family members, Prakash, along with his wife and relatives, had visited the pilgrimage site of Bhagwan Pashupatinath Ji in Nepal before travelling to the hill station of Manali in Himachal Pradesh. On Sunday, they were returning from Noida after staying at a relative’s house when the fatal accident occurred, leaving the family shattered.
