Patna: Bihar police sub-inspectors (SIs) launched a social media campaign on X on Friday to press the govt over their demands and service-related issues.Their key demands include raising their pay level from Level 6 to Level 7, bringing it on a par with secretariat assistants, promotion after five years of service and a defined limit on deputation distance. They want deputations restricted to 75-100km.The personnel said SIs and secretariat assistants were recruited through the same BSSC Graduate Level Combined Examination but placed in different pay levels. SI Sangita Singh posted on X, “Secretariat assistants have been placed at Pay Level 7, whereas police sub-inspectors are currently at Pay Level 6. Since both posts were filled through the same graduate-level combined examination, there should not be such a disparity in their pay structure.”The SIs also cited working hours as an issue, saying they often remain on duty beyond prescribed timings due to law-and-order requirements, investigations and emergencies.ADG, Police Headquarters, Sunil Kumar said social media campaigns by police officials were against the Bihar Police manual. “If the officials have any demand, they should meet the senior officials concerned. We will first verify whether the social media handles are authentic. Then we will take further action,” he said.
