Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) will begin classes for the newly admitted Degree Part-I students from July 15 at its colleges located in Patna and Nalanda districts of the state. The move marks the beginning of the academic session for thousands of students enrolled in the four-year choice based credit system (CBCS) undergraduate (UG) course programme.“CM Samrat Choudhary is likely to virtually inaugurate the commencement of classes at the 16 newly established Rajkiya Degree Colleges falling under the PPU. The inauguration will be held simultaneously with the launch of classes in all govt degree colleges across the state,” PPU registrar Abu Bakar said.According to sources, PPU vice-chancellor Upendra Prasad Singh will be present at the Sampatchak Rajkiya Degree College on the occasion, while PPU registrar Abu Bakar will attend the programme at Kushrupur Rajkiya Degree College. Other senior university officials will also be present at different Rajkiya Degree Colleges during the virtual inauguration programme.“The university has admitted students in the regular arts, science and commerce streams across its 26 constituent colleges, 44 affiliated colleges and 16 newly established Rajkiya Degree Colleges for the 2026-27 academic session,” Bakar said, adding that PPU has a total capacity of nearly 1.25 lakh seats across its colleges.All possible arrangements have been completed for the smooth start of classes. “Colleges have been instructed to ensure regular teaching from the first day itself and provide necessary academic support to the newly admitted students,” the registrar said.So far, the university has admitted 729 students to the newly established Rajkiya Degree Colleges, with the highest enrollment at Athmalgola Rajkiya Degree College (82), followed by Kushrupur Rajkiya Degree College (75) and Ghoswari Rajkiya Degree College (74). However, the lowest number of students enrolled at Katrisarai Rajkiya Degree College (10) in Nalanda district, sources said.
