Patna: A 23-year-old youth was killed on Wednesday after a police vehicle allegedly ran over his motorcycle in Nalanda district, triggering protests and a blockade on NH-20. The deceased was identified as Pradyumn Kumar.Enraged by the incident, family members and villagers staged a road blockade on NH-20. The protesters dragged the damaged motorcycle and the police vehicle nearly 400 metres to Harnaut Bazaar Mor and placed them in the middle of the road. They also kept the body on the road, disrupting traffic for nearly five hours.Police personnel from more than six police stations were deployed to bring the situation under control. SDPO-2 Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal also reached the spot with a team and tried to pacify the protesters, but they remained firm on their demands.“An SUV and a motorcycle collided on the Harnaut-Belchhi road, leading to Pradyumn’s death. Further action will be taken after a formal complaint is received from the deceased’s family,” Jaiswal said.
