Dhanbad: Two persons were killed and four others injured in a road accident involving a trailer, a truck and a car on the National Highway under Topchanchi police station limits on Wednesday morning.Police said a trailer carrying iron materials first collided with the car travelling on the highway. Four occupants of the car and the trailer driver sustained minor injuries and were provided medical assistance.Soon after, the truck approaching from behind allegedly lost control and rammed into the stationary trailer. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the truck got lodged inside the trailer. The driver and helper of the truck died on the spot.Preliminary investigation suggested that the truck driver may have dozed off while driving. The exact cause of the accident will be established after a detailed inquiry, police said.Topchanchi police and a National Highways Authority team reached the spot. The bodies were extricated from the mangled truck cabin and sent for post-mortem. The damaged vehicles were removed with cranes and traffic was later restored.Police registered a case and are examining factors including driver fatigue, speed and road conditions.
