Ranchi: The Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) on Wednesday postponed its scheduled state civil services mains exams, scheduled to take place from July 25 to July 27, after the CID arrested five persons, including deputy examination controller Shweta Gupta, following raids linked to alleged irregularities in competitive examinations conducted by the commission.“Civil services main examination, which was scheduled to be held from July 25 to July 27, has been postponed due to unavoidable reasons,” the press statement from JPSC read. The commission further said other examinations scheduled in the coming days, which includes Jharkhand Combined Civil Service Main (Written) Backlog Examination 2025 and the Jharkhand Combined Civil Service Main (Written) Backlog Examination 2023, were also put off.The postponement of examinations came as the BJP-led opposition stepped up its protests against alleged irregularities into all competitive examinations conducted by the commission.On Wednesday, functionaries of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha staged protests outside the JPSC office claiming irregularities in marking system in the civil services prelims, which were held in April this year.Besides Gupta, the CID arrested Ramvir Singh, director of TSR Data Processing Private Limited, and Md Usman, Md Ebad and Abhay Kumar Tiwari. “Based on evidence available, a case has been registered against relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Jharkhand Competitive Exam (Measures for Control and Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023,” CID said in a statement, adding that the accused will be sent to jail.CID sleuths on Tuesday raided the JPSC office and various other locations while inquiring into complaints related to irregularities in examinations conducted by commission amid growing protests.
