1 dead, 5 injured in Adityapur factory blast

Jamshedpur: A worker died from burn injuries while five others sustained injuries in an explosion at Gloria Engineering located in Adityapur industrial area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Thursday, police said.A loud explosion rocked the factory premises, with the blast being heard from a considerable distance. Six workers, including a woman, who were present on the shop floor, sustained burn injuries. Factory employees evacuated the injured and rushed them to nearby hospitals, sources in the plant said.Machine operator Murli Patro (30) succumbed to his injuries at the Tata Main Hospital (TMH). Two workers, Suraj Hansda and Sonmuni Das, are in a critical condition. Three workers—Shailendra Mahato, Prakash Bodra, and Ankit Kumar—are admitted a private nursing home in Adityapur and stable. All the injured are between 22 and 34 years of age, sources added.Seraikela SDPO Anubhav Bhardwaj said, “The incident is under investigation.”Gloria Engineering is an automotive components manufacturing company located in the second phase of the Adityapur industrial area. The company officials did not make any statement despite attempts by the reporter.
