Chennai: A woman who was seven months pregnant succumbed to injuries after a two-wheeler accident near Tiruttani in Tiruvallur district.Amudha, 24, a resident of Kaveripakkam in Ranipet district, who was pregnant with her third child, was travelling on a two-wheeler with her husband, Sathish, 33 and two daughters, to her parents’ house in Narasamangalam village near Tiruttani.One daughter was seated in front of Sathish and the other between the couple. As the family travelled along the service road beneath the high-level bridge on Tiruttani bypass road, Sathish tried to prevent one of the children from falling and lost control of the vehicle. The two-wheeler skidded, throwing the family onto the road.Amudha sustained serious injuries. Passersby alerted the 108 ambulance service, and the family was taken to Tiruttani Government Hospital. Amudha was referred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, where she died. Tiruttani Police have registered a case and are investigating.
