Hazaribag: Five persons have been arrested on charges of duping people by offering fake franchises of EV charging stations. A total of 11 mobile phones, a laptop, fake identity cards, and several suspicious documents were seized during the operation, police said on Wednesday.The arrested accused have been identified as Amarjeet Kumar (21), Sanjeev Kumar (19), Sanju Kumar (34), Praveen Kumar (51), and Raju Kumar (21).Hazaribag Sadar SDPO Rupak Kumar Singh said, “Acting on a tip-off regarding suspicious activities at a rented house in Baba Path-Hurhuru area, a team raided the premises and apprehended the five suspects.”The accused confessed that they prepared forged documents and lured people with promises of EV charging station franchises. They are suspected of collecting money from victims in the name of security deposits, police added.“The seized digital devices and documents are being examined to ascertain the scale of the fraud, identify additional victims, and trace other members of the network. Further investigation is under way,” the SDPO stated.
