3 IB officers sent to anti-corruption wing

Kolkata: The state’s anti-corruption wing is being reorganised, with three IPS officers from the state intelligence branch (IB) being transferred there. In a notification issued on Monday, the govt said, Muralidhar, currently an IG in the intelligence branch, has been assigned to the new role. Along with him, IB DIG Akash Magharia and special superintendent Kamnashis Sen have also been moved to the anti-corruption unit. The chief minister has consistently said that his govt follows a policy of “zero tolerance” toward corruption and that no one will be spared if found guilty. He has also stressed that action will be taken regardless of political affiliation. Following this message, arrests began across the state, and in most cases leaders of the Trinamool Congress — from lower to senior ranks — have been taken into custody. The state anti-corruption branch is probing several of these cases. Against that backdrop, the govt has now restructured this branch of the state police.
