DHANBAD: A controversy erupted in Dhanbad after ‘objectionable’ posters targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi were found pasted on a shelter constructed by the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation for students near SSLNT Women’s College Road.The posters reportedly carried an illustration resembling an AK-47 rifle along with offensive remarks against the Prime Minister, prompting protests by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).Upon receiving information about the incident, ABVP workers reached the spot, removed the posters, and expressed strong opposition.The student organization later submitted a written complaint to Dhanbad Police, demanding the identification of those responsible and strict legal action.ABVP student leader Anshu Tiwari said the organization was alerted about the posters outside SSLNT College.He stated that ABVP members immediately removed them and would also inspect nearby college campuses and public places to ensure that no similar posters had been displayed elsewhere.According to him, any such posters found in the city would be removed without delay.ABVP members alleged that anti-social elements could be behind the incident. Some workers also expressed suspicion over the involvement of supporters of a political outfit.However, the police have not confirmed the involvement of any individual or organization and said the investigation is at a preliminary stage.Dhanbad Police Station in-charge Manoj Pandey said a written complaint had been received from the students.He stated that the police would examine CCTV footage installed around the college area to identify those responsible and would initiate legal action based on the findings.Meanwhile, Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action against the culprits.He alleged that the posters were an attempt to tarnish the Prime Minister’s image among students and urged the district administration to identify those behind the act and take action in accordance with the law.
