Ranchi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday warned of a low to moderate flash flood risk in parts of 13 districts on Saturday amid forecast of heavy rainfall for three days from Aug 7.The warning covers East and West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Ranchi, Khunti, Hazaribag, Koderma, Chatra, Lohardaga, Latehar, Palamu, Bokaro and Ramgarh districts.Heavy rain is likely at isolated places in southern and central Jharkhand, including Gumla, Khunti, Ranchi and Lohardaga, from Aug 7 to 8. On Aug 8 and 9, Gumla, Lohardaga, Khunti, Ranchi, Ramgarh and Bokaro may receive heavy rain.Rainfall activity is expected to shift towards Koderma, Hazaribag, Ramgarh, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Dumka, Deoghar, Jamtara and Giridih on Aug 9 and 10. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph are likely across the state. A yellow alert is in force for all three days.Ranchi Met office director Baburaj P P attributed the conditions to an active monsoon trough and cyclonic circulations. A low-pressure area is likely to develop over coastal Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal.Torpa recorded the highest rainfall at 87 mm on Friday. Pakur was the hottest at 34.4°C, while Latehar recorded the lowest temperature of 21.1°C.
