Five-day induction programme begins at GEC Buxar
New students at a induction and orientation programme at GEC, Buxar on Monday

Buxar: The five-day induction and orientation programme for the 2026-27 academic session began at Govt Engineering College (GEC), Buxar, on Sunday, with around 275 newly admitted students participating on the opening day. The programme will continue till Aug 14.The programme began with a lamp-lighting ceremony attended by principal Ram Naresh Rai and faculty members. Addressing the students, Rai introduced them to the college’s academic culture, facilities and disciplinary framework, and urged them to make the most of the opportunities available on campus.Dean (academics) and associate professor Shyamlal Verma briefed students on the academic system, curriculum and classroom processes, stressing the importance of discipline, regular study and continuous learning. He also highlighted the need to combine technical education with ethics, human values and social responsibility.Heads of departments introduced students to their courses, laboratories, academic activities and resources, while controller of examinations Gaurav Parmar explained examination procedures, assessment systems and related academic processes.The orientation programme includes academic guidance, career counselling, expert lectures, campus tours and interactive sessions aimed at helping students adapt to the college environment and begin their engineering education with confidence.
