Bike collision claims lives of 2 youths in Khagaria

Patna: Two youths died and three others sustained serious injuries after two speeding motorcycles collided head-on on the Dumri Ghat bridge under Chautham police station area of Khagaria district on Sunday night. The victims were returning with Gangajal from Aguwani Ganga Ghat for jalabhishek when the accident occurred.The deceased were identified as Suraj Kumar (25), son of Anil Yadav of Paura village, and Luv Kush Kumar (18), son of Ramadhar Singh of Kohwa Basa in Beldaur block.According to police, the two bikes, coming from opposite directions, collided on the bridge, killing both riders on the spot. Three others sustained serious injuries. Chautham police rushed to the spot after being informed and launched rescue operations.The bodies were sent to Sadar Hospital, Khagaria, for post-mortem, while injured were taken to Chautham community health centre and later referred to Sadar Hospital, Khagaria, due to their critical condition.Chautham SHO Ajit Kumar said traffic on NH-107 was disrupted for some time following the accident, leading to a long queue of vehicles. Traffic was restored after police cleared the road. The cause of the accident is under investigation.Suraj’s father said his son was on his way to Singheshwar temple in Madhepura district with Gangajal from Aguwani Ghat when the accident took place near Dumri Ghat bridge.A family member said Luv Kush Kumar, who was involved in serving kanwariyas, was travelling on a motorcycle when it collided with another bike coming from the opposite direction.Police said further action would be taken based on statements of the injured.
