Ranchi: A day after the students’ march to Vidhan Sabha, chief minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday accused BJP of exploiting the recruitment exam protests for political gain, even as he announced cancellation of disputed examinations and an overhaul of Jharkhand’s recruitment system.Speaking in the House before the monsoon session was adjourned sine die a day ahead of schedule, Hemant compared BJP to a “parasite” and said the opposition, having run out of issues, was seeking to display its strength “under the guise of students”.“Just as parasites search for different forms of nourishment to stay alive, they are now trying to demonstrate their strength under the guise of students,” he said amid unruly scenes.Hemant claimed both police and protesters had exercised restraint during Monday’s march, but alleged that “rogue elements” backed by BJP tried to disrupt the situation.The House witnessed repeated protests and disruptions, with treasury bench members calling BJP “chandachor” in an apparent reference to allegations concerning donations collected for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.The CM announced the cancellation of the 14th JPSC preliminary examination and backlog examinations held in 2023 and 2025. He said investigations would continue into the 11th and 13th JPSC examinations, recruitments for forest range officers and assistant public prosecutors, and all tests conducted by private agency TDPL.Maintaining that govt’s position on JPSC-related issues and examinations conducted by TDPL was “absolutely clear”, Hemant accused the opposition of creating a “web of confusion” and misleading students. He alleged that the Lucknow-based agency had links with people in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and had deceived Jharkhand’s youth.He also announced a comprehensive revamp of the recruitment examination system. Govt, he said, would seek inputs from institutions such as IITs, IIMs and XLRI to make the process more transparent and credible.BJP MLAs continued their protest inside the House, displaying bundles resembling currency notes. Hemant alleged that the demonstration reflected the opposition’s reliance on money power to influence democracy. He ended his speech by reciting poet Bhukhanath Pandey’s satirical poem ‘Giroh’ in a final swipe at BJP.
