Buxar: A 19-year-old youth drowned while bathing in a pond at Mahraura Shiva temple under Dumraon police station area in Buxar district on Monday. The body was recovered from the pond on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Suraj Kumar, a resident of Samhar village and son of late Vinod Singh Yadav. According to reports, Suraj had gone to the temple pond around 9am on Monday to take a holy dip. While bathing, he ventured into the deeper part of the pond and drowned.Villagers launched a search operation and searched the pond for several hours, but could not locate him. The search continued throughout Monday, with family members also remaining at the spot in the hope of finding him.Suraj’s body was finally recovered on Tuesday morning. Suraj’s father, Vinod Singh Yadav, had died earlier. The family is reportedly facing financial difficulties, while Suraj’s elder brother works with a private company.After the body was recovered, family members took it to Dumraon police station. Following necessary formalities and preparation of an inquest report, police sent the body to Buxar for the postmortem, said Dumraon SHO Sanjay Sinha.
