Patna: JD(U) national president and Rajya Sabha member Nitish Kumar on Wednesday held an informal meeting with the party’s MPs in Delhi and discussed topical political issues as well as matters related to the development of Bihar.The state JD(U), describing the interaction as an “important discussion”, said issues concerning Bihar’s development, public interest and current political matters were discussed during the meeting.Nitish advised the MPs to effectively raise issues concerning the state’s interests in Parliament. He also urged them to work with “utmost commitment” in keeping with the expectations of the people of Bihar.Nitish also held one-on-one conversations with the MPs in what the party described as a “very cordial and meaningful atmosphere”. JD(U) working president and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Kumar Jha was also present at the deliberation.Those who attended included MPs Dileshwar Kamat, Dewesh Chandra Thakur, Kaushalendra Kumar, Alok Suman, Sunil Kumar, Vijayalakshmi Devi and Ramprit Mandal. Deputy leader of the legislative council and party treasurer Lalan Kumar Sarraf was also present at the meeting.Meanwhile, in Patna, transport minister Damodar Rawat and disaster management minister Ratnesh Sada said the govt led by Samrat Choudhary was taking a strict stand against anti-social elements and criminals.“The rule of law exists in the state and no one who challenges law and order will be spared,” Rawat said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the ‘Jan Sunwaee’ programme at the JD(U) state headquarters.He said the govt takes prompt action on reported incidents and that those found guilty were being brought to justice.Sada reiterated the govt’s position on prohibition, saying the liquor ban had contributed to an atmosphere of peace and harmony in the state and enhanced the sense of security among women.Both ministers were speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the ‘Jan Sunwaee’ programme.
