Ranchi: Police have registered an FIR against around 500 unidentified people for allegedly inciting violence during a Vidhan Sabha march by protesting JPSC-JSSC aspirants on Monday.The action followed an alleged attempt by anti-social elements to disrupt law and order near the Jharkhand Assembly, Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan said.The SSP told the media, “FIRs against some 500 unidentified people have been registered following discussions with members of JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch. They revealed that some unruly elements in the guise of protestors tried to disrupt law and order during the march at many locations.”He clarified that no FIR had been registered against students who took part in the peaceful protest. “The students don’t need to be worried. Police are trying to identify the unruly elements based on video and CCTV footages available which will follow legal action. Based on video analysis, the number of people against FIRs is lodged might be changed,” the SSP added.The administration had deployed videographers to record the protest at different locations and along various roads. Drones were also used to monitor the crowd.The FIR was registered at Vidhan Sabha police station on Tuesday based on a written complaint filed by Nagri circle inspector Md Nishar Ahmad, who had been deployed as a magistrate near the Assembly to maintain law and order.The case primarily pertains to the alleged violation of prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), obstruction of govt work and attacks on police personnel.In his complaint, Ahmad alleged that unruly elements mingling with the protesters scuffled with police and district administration officials. He also alleged that shoes, bricks and water bottles were thrown at police, injuring several officers deployed along the march route. The FIR further accused the protesters of raising anti-govt slogans.Police resorted to a lathi-charge and fired tear gas shells after failing to disperse the agitators from the Assembly area on Monday evening. Several protesters were injured in the clash, with a few sustaining head injuries during the police action.
